Reuse control evidence across assurance programs

Explore how a common control can support multiple assurance programs without losing the scope of individual requirements. Connect evidence sources, assessment periods, ownership, and remediation gaps to build a traceable workflow for continuous assurance.

Use this workflow when several assurance programs depend on the same security practice. It describes an evaluation scenario, rather than a customer result.

Start with a common control

Define the control objective, responsible owner, affected systems, and expected evidence. Map applicable framework requirements to that control while preserving each requirement’s scope and assessment criteria. Similar wording alone is not sufficient to establish equivalent requirements.

Keep evidence traceable

Attach evidence with its source, collection date, period covered, and review owner. Reuse it only where the scope and assessment period match. A policy document demonstrates an approved policy; it does not by itself demonstrate operational effectiveness.

Assess and resolve gaps

Record the assessment decision for each applicable requirement. Link a gap to a finding, owner, and remediation action. When remediation cannot proceed, record an exception with its rationale, approval, and review date. Retain the evidence behind both acceptance and rejection decisions.

Evaluate the workflow during Early Access

Ask the team to demonstrate one control linked to multiple requirements, evidence reused with retained source context, a gap assigned to an owner, and a subsequent assessment. Confirm which framework versions and content are included in your agreed scope. Workflow support does not establish certification or legal compliance.
